I develop measurement systems for biological states that are difficult to observe continuously. My research has progressed from studying neural circuits and behavior, to integrating molecular sensing with EEG and fiber photometry, to engineering electrochemical aptamer sensors for long-term molecular monitoring.

At the University of Cincinnati's Novel Devices Laboratory, I study how surface chemistry, electrochemical interrogation, biofouling, and tissue interactions shape the reliability of implantable molecular sensors. My long-term goal is to connect durable molecular sensing with neurotechnology and physiological signal analysis, creating tools that distinguish meaningful biological change from changes in the measurement itself.
